About Me

My photo
I've been married to my husband, Michael, for almost 25 years. I'm a mom to a biological son and an adopted son from Colombia, and I'm also a spiritual mom to my adopted son's older brother, who I claim as a son in my heart. I'm bilingual and love to work with and relate to Spanish-speaking children and families. I've been a teacher to students from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures for the last 20+ years. I'm also an author and a certified Biblical counselor. I'm in a new empty nest season in a new location far from where I raised my boys, so I'm definitely in a stage of rediscovering myself, my interests, and my purpose.

Another year to adventure together

For year 27, we decided to follow some friends' suggestion to go on a Riverboat Cruise down the Ohio River in Cincinnati, OH. Since those friends happened to have lived in Cincinnati years ago, they also gave us some other suggestions of things to do while there, so we took them up on all of their suggestions and loved the new adventure of it all.

In no certain order, here are pics of the things we did and saw:

Coming in to Cincinnati

A pretty park we visited, where we sat and played cards
(while all the healthy people jogged by us)

You can't tell in the pics, but I was intrigued by the different flags displayed on each end of the suspension bridge, one leading into Ohio, the other leading into Kentucky.

The Cincinnati side of the river

The first restaurant we went to the night we arrived--the Montgomery Inn Boathouse. It's the only restaurant right on the waterfront on the Cincinnati side, with four restaurants on the Kentucky waterfront side.

They are specifically known for their ribs. So we split a King Rack.

It was neat to see how a different state lies on either side of the river, and it was interesting to learn more about the history of all that's built up on both waterfronts. I was fascinated to learn that most of the Ohio River actually belongs to Kentucky.

Our lunch provided on the Riverboat cruise.

A different boat that does the dinner sunset cruise.
We opted for the day one, and we were blessed with a beautiful, sunny day. :)

That's me, the River Queen. LOL.

A little sightseeing before/near the cruise departure sight.

Some neat history happening on our special weekend, with four astronauts making it back safely from their trip around the moon.

A nice hotel room, thanks to our son who earns a lot of points from traveling so much for work.

Wish I had time to write more about it, but we returned to reality and have work to do now! It really was a fun adventure, and I look forward to whatever we choose for the next one.
